Engineering Unit under CWM/JMP headed by Divisional Engg.

Sri Tarachand/DEN

Jamalpur Workshop and it's Colony  maintenance was under ATE/JMP, since 1862 under administrative control of DRM/MLDT. But from 1987 Divisional Engineer (Town) was posted in Jamalpur under administrative control of CWM/JMP to look after the job of civil engineering works of the workshop and associated colony.


  • Maintenance of all residential and service building and structures within jamalpur Railway Area except Railway Station and Diesel Shed Campus.
  • Water Supply to entire railway establishment including station and diesel shed.
  • Munger Pontoon and pipeline between Munger to Jamalpur but excluding distributions of Waterinside Diesel Shed and station Campus.
  • Entire Workshop maintenance.
  • Entire IRIMEE service building.

  • ZoneNo.1. --Rs.15 Lakh-- Formaintenance of Workshop.
  • Zone No.2. – Rs.6 Lakh-- For maintenance ofP.Way inside Workshop.
  • Zone No.3. – Rs.23 Lakh – For maintenance of East Colony, Main            Hospital & Service Building.
  • Zone No. 4.– Rs.12 Lakh – For maintenance of Rampur, Rampur Maidan, Loco, MungerLine & Daulatpur Colony.
  • Zone No.5 – Rs.18 Lakh – For Repair & Maintenance of Yantrik Niwas, Gymkhana. IRIME&E Office Building
  • Zone No. 6 –Rs.12 Lakh – For Maintenance of IRIME&E Staff Quarters  and Queens Road Hostel

Munger Pontoon
  • This is a unique and rare arrangement of Water Supply in Indian Railways, being maintained by Jamalpur Workshop. Munger Pontoon is the life line of complete railway establishment of Jamalpur as the total water required for Jamalpur Railway establishment is being lifted by this pontoon. The special feature of the system is that the Sub-Station and the pumping Station are floating on a barge on the river Ganga.
Future Plan
  • For improving the sewerage system 1.95 crore has been sanctioned.
  • For roof treatments 90 lakh has been sanctioned
  • For roadand door 60 lakh has been sanctioned
  • One colony that is Rampur Colony has been planed as Model colony.
  • For improving the floor of workshops 1 crore has already been sanctioned
