ER ACHIEVED A REMARKABLE GROWTH IN FREIGHT LOADING

Eastern Railway achieved a growth in freight loading during the period from April, 2014 to January, 2015 this year i.e, first ten months of this fiscal, although ER is best known as a passenger-carrying railway. ER has been carrying 33 lakhs passengers daily by running of 1925 trains everyday.
Freight loading of ER during the period has reached to the tune of 54.987 Million Tonnes, registering a growth of 9.24% over the corresponding period of the last financial year.
In January alone this year, freight loading stood at 6.397 Million Tonnes which is 11.08% more than that of the corresponding month of last year.
